XL Specialized Trailers was named 2023 business of the year at the Manchester Area Chamber of Commerce annual banquet, Jan. 17.
The selection is based on criteria that includes growth, innovation, customer service, perseverance, volunteerism/participation in chamber events or activities and demonstrated economic support of the Manchester area business community.
XL Specialized Trailers President Stuart Sleper gave credit to his XL team for the award.
“Our team members at XL do all the work. They deserve the credit for all the improvements that have been made.”
Those improvements include completing phase one of a 50,000 square foot addition and increasing the production capacity by 50%. The company also renovated office space, upgraded manufacturing equipment and added more space for employees to work, increasing productivity.
The company has also been involved in the community with staff participation in committees and donations to the Manchester Rotary, West Delaware Booster and Academic clubs, Maquoketa Valley Athletic Boosters, the Delaware County Pay It Forward Committee, the Manchester Dog Park and Manchester Vitality.
Sleper said he’s excited about what’s next for XL and Manchester.
“The best is yet to come from our company. We are very excited and are already planning a phase two expansion. I know that is a stepping stone for Manchester. There are so many amazing things happening around town and I’m just glad we are a part of it and helping in some way to continue all the progress that is happening in Manchester.”
